Fatigue suspected in I-70 semi truck collision

Two semi trucks collided early Friday morning on I-70 in Colorado.

The crash: Happened around 4:30 a.m. on eastbound I-70 near Eagle and Edwards.

One truck crossed the left shoulder barrier, entering the eastbound lanes and hitting another semi. The two passengers of the eastbound truck were taken to a hospital, and their conditions remain unknown. The westbound driver was not injured.

Closure: Eastbound I-70 was shut down between Exit 163 (Edwards) and Exit 167 (Avon), reported CDLLife.

  • Authorities suspect driver fatigue as a possible cause and are still investigating.
  • One lane of I-70 eastbound reopened Friday afternoon.

Thankfully, no other vehicles were involved and the westbound driver was uninjured.
