New Tilford port of entry hosts trucker appreciation event

The South Dakota Highway Patrol celebrated the new Tilford port-of-entry with a special event for truckers on September 18.

The big picture: The celebration featured free burgers, hot dogs, and sides for truckers passing by. Officers also gave tours of the new inspection facility.

  • The facility includes a partially-indoor inspection bay, allowing year-round inspections regardless of weather conditions.
  • An indoor area for truckers to wait comfortably during inspections is now available.

Brian Stenbeck, an inspector at the port of entry, mentioned, "Now we can do inspections all year-round. We don’t have to worry about the weather or the snow out here in the parking lot."

Highlights: The event drew dozens of truckers who appreciated both the food and the new facilities, reported KOTA TV News.

The new facility aims to enhance safety and convenience for truckers, making inspections quicker and more efficient.
