Wyoming Highway Patrol rolled out the numbers for June 2025: not being able to speak or read enough English was one of the top trucker violations, coming in at #5 on their list.
The details: Troopers say 66 truckers were cited last month for not showing enough English skills during roadside interviews. This was out of 1,346 inspections in June.
- As of June 25, drivers can now be put out-of-service for not meeting federal English requirements. This step came after a push from the White House for stricter rules.
- These rules say truckers need to be able to read and talk with the public in English, respond to officers, and understand road signs and reports.
- Wyoming says English violations also made the top ten list in May, with 71 drivers written up then.
Worth noting: Troopers did thank the hundreds of drivers who had clean inspections. Over 200 trucks earned new safety decals in June.
This enforcement is part of a broader check on trucker compliance in Wyoming, and the new out-of-service rule applies nationwide as of late June 2025.
