Wyoming sheriff deputizes deputies after two undocumented drivers arrested

On October 28, 2025, two truck drivers were arrested in Laramie County, Wyoming, for immigration violations. The Laramie County Sheriff’s Office says both drivers were found to be undocumented—one from Venezuela and the other from Mexico.

The details: Deputies stopped one truck that bypassed a Port of Entry near the Colorado/Wyoming line and found the driver did not have a CDL and had a suspended license from Colorado. The truck was going 67 mph in a 50 mph zone, according to the sheriff.

  • The company that employed the driver was also suspended by federal DOT and was not allowed to be in operation, the sheriff said.
  • The second stop involved a dump truck that was reportedly “way overweight.” That driver was also undocumented, according to authorities.

What’s next: Sheriff Brian Kozak said both drivers are now facing deportation and federal transportation officials are getting the case details.

Since October 1, the sheriff and 25 deputies have been deputized by ICE to work on immigration enforcement, including catching unlicensed commercial drivers along I-25 and I-80 in Wyoming.
