Worker's tragic fall into pork fat tanker raises safety concerns

A worker tragically passed away after falling into an empty tanker truck lined with pork fat at a trailer wash facility in Louisville, Kentucky, on Thursday, January 30.

The situation: Emergency teams were called to the scene around 2:08 p.m. at the Louisville Trailer Wash on East Main Street. The initial report indicated a confined space rescue was needed.

  • Fire crews managed to enter the tanker by 2:31 p.m. and successfully pulled the worker out by 2:52 p.m.
  • Despite efforts to perform CPR, the individual succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Investigation: Louisville Metro Police Department’s Homicide Unit is conducting a death investigation, reported WAVE News.

Emergency services have not been able to provide more information, but the incident has sparked safety discussions at the facility.
