Uber crash into parked truck results in tragic loss

A tragic accident occurred late on New Year's Eve in Philadelphia, when an Uber driver's car collided with a parked semi truck, leading to the death of a passenger.

What happened: Around 10:45 p.m. on December 31, a sedan driven by a 32-year-old pregnant woman crashed into a stationary tractor-trailer at Nedro and Ogontz avenues.

  • The impact of the crash pushed the front passenger side of the Uber underneath the parked trailer.
  • Both the driver and her passenger were rushed to Jefferson Einstein Hospital.

The passenger, a 28-year-old woman, was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. The Uber driver, though injured, is in stable condition. Luckily, the parked truck's driver wasn't harmed in the incident.

An Uber spokesperson expressed deep sadness over the event, stating, "We're incredibly saddened by this horrible crash and are keeping those involved in our thoughts."

Investigation: Authorities are still probing the cause of the crash. As of now, no further details have been provided about the circumstances leading to the tragedy.
