Two semi trucks hauling bulldozers hit the same bridge just minutes apart near Blackfoot, Idaho, on Tuesday, August 5.
What happened: Around 5:30 p.m., a 1986 Peterbilt driven by a 36-year-old from New Plymouth was headed north on I-15 when its load hit the Porterville Road bridge. Soon after, a 2013 Volvo, also hauling two bulldozers and driven by a 47-year-old from Las Vegas, struck the bridge as well.
- Both truck drivers were wearing seat belts.
- No injuries were reported from either crash.
- The bridge strikes forced all lanes of I-15 to close for hours, leading to major traffic backups.
Bingham County law enforcement, EMS, and Idaho Transportation Department responded to help clear the scene, according to Idaho State Police.
The interstate has since reopened, but the Porterville Road bridge will remain closed until repairs are finished.
