Two semi-trucks collide on I-70, hospitalizing drivers

Two semi-trucks collided on eastbound I-70 in Colorado early Friday morning, resulting in hospitalization for two of the drivers involved.

The collision: Occurred around 4:30 a.m. near Eagle when a westbound truck crossed the barrier into oncoming eastbound traffic. Investigators suspect driver fatigue played a role in the crash.

  • Two people from the eastbound truck were taken to a local hospital. Their conditions are currently unknown.
  • The westbound driver was unharmed.

Current status: Eastbound I-70 remains closed between Exit 163 (Edwards) and Exit 167 (Avon) and is expected to stay closed for most of the day, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

Thankfully, no fatalities have been reported.
