Turkey crashes through truck windshield, driver hospitalized but safe

A turkey smashed through the windshield of a semi-truck on I-49 in Newton County, Missouri, injuring the driver. This incident happened around noon on April 21.

The situation: The bird struck the driver's side, leaving a large hole in the windshield. Despite the shock, the driver successfully pulled over and contacted emergency services.

  • Authorities, including the Missouri State Highway Patrol, responded swiftly.
  • The trucker was taken to the hospital with non-emergency injuries.

Timing: This comes at a time when turkeys are on the move due to Missouri's spring turkey season, which runs until May 11. Cpl Ben Dodson noted it's not the first turkey-related incident this season reported KOAM News.

Thankfully, the driver avoided more severe harm by staying in control of the truck and no further incidents occurred on the road.
