Trucking companies acquire ex-Yellow terminals in $15M deal

Seven former Yellow terminals were handed off to different trucking companies for a total of over $15 million this week.

Deal details: Knight-Swift bought terminals in California and Virginia for $9.9 million. A. Duie Pyle paid $4.5 million for facilities in Ohio and West Virginia. TFI International spent $700,000 on a North Carolina terminal.

  • Knight-Swift acquired sites in Downey, Santa Maria, and San Diego, California, plus Roanoke, Virginia.
  • A. Duie Pyle expanded with locations in Bowling Green, Ohio, and Charleston, West Virginia.
  • TFI International added the Fayetteville, North Carolina terminal to their portfolio.

Strategic moves: These purchases are part of a broader push by all three companies to bolster their less-than-truckload (LTL) services.

What they're saying: Knight-Swift, already a major truckload operator, continues to grow its LTL presence since entering the market a few years ago, noted Sourcing Journal.

Meanwhile: Yellow has been liquidating its assets after filing for bankruptcy in mid-2023, selling over 170 terminals for $2.2 billion so far.
