Truckers injured due to poor signage at Amazon warehouse

Truckers Mahari Oukbu and Harvail Dhillon faced tragic incidents due to unclear signage at an Amazon warehouse in Hancock County, Indiana.

The background: The lack of proper signage at the warehouse led both drivers to park in a turn lane and walk towards the facility for directions.

  • In September 2022, Oukbu was hit by a car while crossing the road, resulting in severe injuries, including broken bones. He remains unable to work.
  • In a separate incident in October 2022, Dhillon was struck by a tanker truck, causing fatal injuries.

The legal battle: According to their attorney, Brandon Yosha, Amazon didn't provide adequate safety measures until after these incidents occurred.

The drivers' lawsuit was initially dismissed because the accidents happened off Amazon's property. However, the Indiana Supreme Court ruled that the case could proceed, reported Fox 59 News.

What's next: Yosha anticipates finding more evidence of similar incidents in the discovery phase of the lawsuit. The legal proceedings aim to hold Amazon accountable for not ensuring safe access to its facilities for truck drivers.
