Trucker swerves to avoid car, tanker flips on highway

A tanker truck overturned on I-395 in Plainfield, Connecticut, swerving to avoid a car without lights left in a travel lane. The incident occurred on the evening of December 26th.

What happened: Truck driver Robert Daniels tried to miss the disabled car, causing his tanker to flip and leak liquid nitrogen.

The fire department reported the leak was harmless and posed no danger to the public.
The driver of the car, identified as James Fitzgerald, left the scene but was later cited for multiple traffic violations.

Injuries: Daniels got a small cut on his face, but no other injuries were reported.

The truck was carrying liquid nitrogen, which did not pose a threat, despite the spill. Fitzgerald is due in court for prior misdemeanor charges.
