Trucker swerves to avoid car, tanker flips on highway

A tanker truck overturned on I-395 in Plainfield, Connecticut, swerving to avoid a car without lights left in a travel lane. The incident occurred on the evening of December 26th.

What happened: Truck driver Robert Daniels tried to miss the disabled car, causing his tanker to flip and leak liquid nitrogen.

  • The fire department reported the leak was harmless and posed no danger to the public.
  • The driver of the car, identified as James Fitzgerald, left the scene but was later cited for multiple traffic violations.

Injuries: Daniels got a small cut on his face, but no other injuries were reported.

The truck was carrying liquid nitrogen, which did not pose a threat, despite the spill. Fitzgerald is due in court for prior misdemeanor charges.
