A trucker hauling steel pipes survived a severe crash with a tanker in Lufkin, Texas, on September 18.
What happened: The accident occurred around 8 a.m. on U.S. 59 south near Southwood Drive/FM 324. A tanker truck entered a northbound crossover and drove into the path of the truck carrying steel pipes.
- The crash caused the semitrailer to lose its load and the driver was pinned inside the mangled cab.
Despite the dramatic scene, the truck driver sustained only minor injuries and was expected to be released from the hospital without an overnight stay.
"We’re glad to report that the driver of the 18-wheeler carrying steel pipes is doing well," said the Lufkin Police Department.
Family reaction: The trucker's wife, Amanda Guthrie, shared her relief on social media, thanking God for her husband's survival and posting photos and videos of the crash.
"Brian has been checked out at a local hospital and we are on our way home with just cuts and bruises," she wrote.
Both truck drivers survived without serious injuries.
