Trucker loses life after hitting barriers on I-16 in Macon

A truck driver was killed early Wednesday morning, August 6th, in a single-vehicle crash on I-16 in Macon, Georgia.

What happened: Around 6:45 a.m., a tractor-trailer left the road near mile marker one and hit a construction barrier. The truck continued onto the right shoulder and struck a second barrier, finally coming to a stop.

  • First responders had to extricate the driver from the heavily damaged cab.
  • The driver, identified as Donnye Culbreath, was pronounced dead at the scene.
  • No other vehicles were involved in the accident, and all lanes have reopened, according to WGXA News.

No additional information has been released as the Georgia State Patrol continues to investigate.
