An Uzbek driver is facing charges after a road rage incident on Sunday, April 20th on I-80 in Uinta County, Wyoming. The driver, Alisher Sabirov, allegedly threatened another trucker with a knife.
The details: The incident began when Sabirov reportedly cut off another trucker, known as NM, on the highway. NM later reported to police that Sabirov aggressively pursued him and eventually confronted him, shouting and threatening violence.
- NM claims that Sabirov, who bragged about his UFC fighting skills, initially threatened to shoot him before brandishing a knife.
- Sabirov was later apprehended by authorities and a knife matching NM's description was found in his vehicle.
The charges: Sabirov is being held on charges of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment, with bail set at $10,000 cash or surety. He has a court hearing scheduled for Friday.
What they're saying: During the altercation, NM taunted Sabirov for using a knife instead of fighting "like a man". Sabirov, however, claimed he only picked up "something black" from the ground for defense.
Authorities confirmed Sabirov's MMA experience but found it questionable that he would need a weapon against NM, who is smaller in stature, reported Cowboy State Daily.
Sheriff Kopp noted the absence of any immigration issues with Sabirov, as no detainer request was placed by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
