Truck hauling excavator hits overpass, causes I-95 lane closures

A truck carrying an excavator hit an overpass on I-95 in Henrico, Virginia, causing a five-vehicle crash on Tuesday morning.

The details: The incident happened around 9:30 a.m. by mile marker 83 on I-95 south.

The collision caused debris from the overpass, leading to crashes involving five vehicles.
Fortunately, no major injuries were reported.

Current situation: The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is inspecting the overpass for any structural damage.

VDOT has closed I-95 southbound lanes, redirecting traffic at Exit 84B.
There are reports of traffic backups extending for 2.5 miles as of 10:19 a.m.
