Truck driver's cat theft drama at Ohio truck stop

A truck driver is set to appear in court on April 3 after an unusual charge of stealing a fellow trucker’s cat. The incident happened at a Best Buy in Findlay, Ohio, back in October 2023.

The details: While Christine Smith-Powell was resting in her truck, another trucker allegedly took her calico cat, Pippa, straight from the cab.

  • Smith-Powell's dash cam reportedly captured the act, leading to charges of petty theft and trespassing against the accused, 57-year-old Senada Zmukic.
  • The stolen cat has remained unfound despite Smith-Powell's tireless search and social media campaigns to locate Pippa.

Background: Smith-Powell shares a strong bond with her cats, who frequently join her during her cross-country hauls. She compared losing Pippa to “losing my child,” emphasizing the emotional toll this situation has caused her, reported 13 ABC.

Zmukic, who faces the upcoming court date, denies ever having the cat. Smith-Powell suspects Pippa might have been abandoned shortly after the theft. Though the courtroom proceedings are anticipated, Smith-Powell doubts they will bring her the justice or closure she seeks without Pippa's recovery.
