Truck driver sought after semi hits multiple overpasses in Canada

Canadian police are searching for a truck driver after a semi struck four overpasses on Highway 403 in Brantford, Ontario, on Thursday morning.

What happened: At 10:39 a.m. on May 1, a red tractor-trailer carrying an excavator hit overpasses on Tollgate Road, Paris Road, Ewing Drive, and King George Road.

The driver didn't stop after hitting the overpasses.
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are asking for witnesses or dash cam footage from motorists in the area to assist in the investigation.

Broader context: This incident adds to a growing concern in Canada over vehicle height compliance. Just last year, British Columbia introduced harsher penalties for such strikes.

Penalties can reach up to $100,000 in fines and 18 months in prison, according to an official press release.

Thankfully, despite the damage, no injuries were reported from the overpass collisions.
