A Las Vegas man, Antonio Chaidez, 35, was arrested after a shooting spree early Tuesday in Baker, California. The incident injured three people, including a truck driver.
The timeline: The shooting started at 2:36 a.m. when a man was shot while sleeping in his car in San Bernardino County. Minutes later, a second shooting unfolded at a Chevron gas station on Baker Boulevard.
- Chaidez fired multiple rounds inside the gas station, hitting a store clerk.
- He then shot into two parked semi-trucks, injuring one of the drivers, before fleeing the scene.
The California Highway Patrol tracked Chaidez's vehicle, a black truck, on the I-15 Freeway and initiated a pursuit. Deputies later stopped and arrested him without incident off Harvard Road, according to Barstow Sheriff's Department.
Why it matters: The shootings stretched across two states, starting in Nevada before reaching California, and are being investigated as attempted murders.
Thankfully, all victims were transported to the hospital with injuries but are expected to recover.
