Truck driver dies after electrocution during Illinois farm unloading accident

A truck driver died after being electrocuted during a farm accident in McHenry County, Illinois. The incident happened at about 5:17 p.m. on Monday, October 27th, near County Line Road south of Jackson Road.

What happened: A 56-year-old man was using a John Deere tractor and grain cart. He was unloading grain into a semi parked along the road. The grain chute then made contact with overhead power lines, pulling them down onto the tractor.

  • The 38-year-old truck driver went over to the tractor and tried to climb into it.
  • At that moment, he was electrocuted by the live wires and died at the scene.
  • The man who was operating the tractor was taken to a hospital in fair condition.

Utility company ComEd was called out to handle the downed power lines and help with the investigation, reported CBS News Chicago.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and Coroner are still investigating the accident. The name of the truck driver has not yet been released.
