Tragic Michigan pileup involves semi-truck, claims four lives

In a tragic accident over the weekend, a semi-truck collided with stopped traffic in Michigan, resulting in four deaths and injuries to 17 others. The crash happened late Saturday night on I-96, near Webberville.

The situation: Traffic had been halted to allow crews to work on power lines across the highway. Just as officers began reopening the road, the semi-truck failed to notice the standstill vehicles and plowed into them.

  • The impact sparked a fire, leading to a man's ejection from a pickup truck, who, along with three people in another car, did not survive.
  • The truck driver suffered severe injuries and was among the 17 individuals taken to hospitals.
  • In total, about 15 vehicles were caught in the fiery wreck.

The aftermath: Cleanup efforts carried on into Sunday, with the road reopening to traffic by Monday morning, reported Fox 2 Detroit.
