The details: The Volvo semi, pulling double FedEx trailers, was unoccupied at the time. Its driver was inspecting an air leak when the SUV veered off the road, striking the rear trailer.
- The force of the collision pushed the trailer forward, and the SUV continued into a ditch.
- The SUV driver was thrown from the vehicle and was pronounced dead on the scene.
Assistance: Indiana State Police, Gary Fire/EMS, WAFFCO Towing, and other local services responded quickly to the site, reported Indiana State Police.
Next steps: The Lake County Coroner’s Office is set to reveal the victim’s identity once relatives have been informed.
Thankfully, no one else was injured in the incident.
