Toyota driver injured in crash with parked semi

A crash at an I-81 rest area in Weyers Cave, Virginia, left a Toyota Tacoma driver seriously injured on the morning of October 14.

The crash: A Toyota Tacoma was exiting the interstate when it lost control and struck a semi truck parked at a rest area entrance.

  • The Tacoma driver, towing another Tacoma, was southbound on I-81 before the crash.
  • After the collision, the driver was airlifted to UVA Health in Charlottesville for treatment.

The details: The incident happened shortly before 8 a.m. The semi truck was parked on the right shoulder of the rest area entrance.

  • The semi truck driver was uninjured but received a citation for improper parking from the authorities.

Charges against the Toyota driver are pending as the investigation continues, reported Staunton News Leader.
