Texas trucker's window smashed by hay bale from passing pickup

A Texas truck driver experienced a startling incident when a passing pickup truck's hay bale struck and shattered their vehicle's window.

What happened: The collision occurred on State Highway 7 near mile marker 662 in Houston County, Texas. Dashcam footage from the tanker truck shows the moment of impact when the hay, being carried by an oncoming pickup, hit and smashed the truck's driver-side window.

Details: The narrow road, compounded by a construction barrier, left little room for the vehicles to maneuver past each other. The Texas Department of Public Safety is treating the case as a hit-and-run, though it's possible the pickup driver was unaware of the accident due to the tight space and size of the load.

  • Despite the potential for serious injury, there were no reports of anyone being harmed.
  • Authorities are seeking public assistance to gather more information and have requested that any tips be directed to the Crockett Highway Patrol Office.

For truckers: Those with knowledge of the event are encouraged to contact the Crockett Highway Patrol Office at 936-544-7050.
