Tennessee man arrested for shooting at truckers over noise

A Tennessee man was arrested for firing a gun at truck drivers over the noise from Jake Brakes on Thursday, February 6, 2025, according to the Carter County Sheriff's Office.

The incident: Thomas Robert Gambrel, 47, reportedly fired six shots to "frighten" truckers on Landfill Road in Elizabethton.

  • Two dump truck drivers heard gunshots as they stopped to talk and called 911 immediately.
  • One driver noted the same man had threatened to shoot if truckers continued to use Jake Brakes near his home.

The arrest: Deputies found six spent shell casings at Gambrel's residence and arrested him after he admitted to firing out of frustration.

He was held without bond and faces felony aggravated assault charges. The legal proceedings are ongoing as Gambrel remains in custody awaiting arraignment.
