Suspected drunk driver flees after crashing into semi truck

A suspected drunk driver was arrested after crashing into a Peterbilt semi truck and then taking off on July 30, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Coalinga Division.

How it unfolded: The white Hyundai hit the black Peterbilt and trailer, then sped south on I-5 near Manning Avenue. Officers soon spotted a car matching the description, clocking it at over 100 mph.

  • CHP pulled the car over and took a female driver into custody without trouble.
  • She now faces charges for DUI and hit-and-run.

What CHP said: "This rapid response and teamwork by our officers prevented further danger to the motoring public," the agency noted.

The truck driver was not reported to be injured during the incident, and the situation was quickly brought under control.
