A wild police chase came to a dramatic end when a stolen semi-truck was driven into the Fraser River late Wednesday night in Langley, British Columbia.
The incident: It started around 7:35 p.m. when officers first noticed the rig with mismatched license plates. They attempted a stop at midnight, leading to the chaotic chase. The driver tried to ram police cruisers before speeding off.
- Police deflated the front-right tire with a spike belt, but the truck kept going through neighborhoods.
- A second spike strip took out the rear tires, yet the trucker sped dangerously through red lights, past other vehicles.
The final act: The suspect, in a reckless last move, drove the semi into a public dock area filled with people and plunged into the Fraser River before abandoning the rig. He was quickly apprehended without further incident.
- Sgt. Zynal Sharoom highlighted the risk, stating the suspect "showed zero regard for public safety," reported CBC News.
The man is now in custody, and charges are pending as the investigation continues.
