Stolen box truck chase ends in rescue by deputies

Dash cam video from Pierce County, Washington, shows a stolen box truck being chased by deputies in the early morning hours of October 12th.

The chase: Deputies spotted the box truck just before 1 a.m. in the Bonney Lake area. The driver refused to pull over, setting off a pursuit through local streets.

After several PIT maneuvers, deputies forced the truck off the road.
The two men inside were stuck in the cab as the truck began to fill with smoke.

Rescue effort: Deputies broke the front windshield so the men could crawl out. Fire crews arrived soon after to help.

Both suspects were taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
The 42-year-old driver was later booked into jail on several charges, including assault and possessing stolen property.
The 38-year-old passenger was released for medical care, with further charges expected.

The stolen box truck was towed from the scene.
