Springtime snowstorm disrupts truck routes with chain restrictions

Mother Nature's April Fools' joke brought significant snowfall to parts of the west, wreaking havoc on the roads.

What happened: On March 31st, Truckee, California faced a snowstorm causing numerous semi truck spinouts and temporary road closures. The storm continued into April 1st.

Interstate 80 had chain restrictions and traffic was held in areas due to multiple spinouts.
Reno, Nevada was under a winter storm warning until late Monday, and Telluride, Colorado received about 3 inches of snow.

Looking ahead: The storm is moving eastward, expected to reach the Great Lakes by April 3rd.

For truckers: Be cautious if you're driving through this area; road conditions can be unpredictable in this weather.

This snowstorm is part of a larger weather system causing severe weather in other regions, reported by NOAA.

Thankfully, despite the challenging conditions, no injuries have been reported from these spinouts.
