Severe storm overturns semis, damages Texas highway drivers

Severe weather slammed north Texas earlier this week, toppling multiple semi trucks and trailers, along with buildings in Baylor County.

The big event: On Tuesday, April 29th, Seymour, Texas recorded wind gusts reaching up to 106 mph, according to a Fox Weather report, while 5-inch hail was confirmed in Guthrie, Texas.

  • Drone footage shows a semi truck overturned on a highway and another damaged after colliding with equipment blown onto the road. A nearby horse trailer was also flipped, detached from its pick-up.
  • The driver of one of the trucks managed to escape by climbing out the passenger side but fell as he exited. A helpful storm chaser bandaged him up and got him to a hospital.

Impact of the storm: This weather system swept across the region, creating havoc from Texas to the Northeast and tragically resulted in at least three fatalities.

Looking ahead: Recovery efforts are underway in affected areas to clear debris and start rebuilding what was damaged. Despite the chaos, the quick actions of bystanders and emergency responders made a significant difference, ensuring the injured truck driver received necessary care.
