Severe weather slammed north Texas earlier this week, toppling multiple semi trucks and trailers, along with buildings in Baylor County.
The big event: On Tuesday, April 29th, Seymour, Texas recorded wind gusts reaching up to 106 mph, according to a Fox Weather report, while 5-inch hail was confirmed in Guthrie, Texas.
- Drone footage shows a semi truck overturned on a highway and another damaged after colliding with equipment blown onto the road. A nearby horse trailer was also flipped, detached from its pick-up.
- The driver of one of the trucks managed to escape by climbing out the passenger side but fell as he exited. A helpful storm chaser bandaged him up and got him to a hospital.
Impact of the storm: This weather system swept across the region, creating havoc from Texas to the Northeast and tragically resulted in at least three fatalities.
Looking ahead: Recovery efforts are underway in affected areas to clear debris and start rebuilding what was damaged. Despite the chaos, the quick actions of bystanders and emergency responders made a significant difference, ensuring the injured truck driver received necessary care.
