Semi truck's unusual ride with boulder ends safely

On Thursday, March 27, a semi truck was involved in an unusual incident in downtown Colorado Springs. The truck picked up a 300-pound landscaping boulder at E. Fountain Blvd. and S. Weber St., dragging it along roadways.

What happened: Around 10:30 a.m., the tractor-trailer accidentally scooped up the boulder. The rock was dragged north on Weber St. and west on Cimarron St. before finally becoming dislodged near the I-25 interchange.

  • Officers from the Colorado Springs Police Department responded swiftly and managed to speak with the truck driver.
  • There were no reports of any injuries or vehicle damage due to the incident.
  • The boulder was successfully returned to its original location, reported Colorado Springs Police.

No harm done: The situation, though likely surprising to many passers-by, ended safely with no injuries reported. The prompt action by law enforcement ensured the road was quickly cleared, minimizing disruptions to local traffic.
