Semi truck found submerged near Sullivan’s Island fire dock

A semi truck was found under water near the Sullivan’s Island Fire Department dock in South Carolina early on July 31, 2025.

What happened: Police say the 2022 International Sleeper Cab, owned by a Kentucky carrier, went missing after leaving its last tracked location near the boat landing in the 900 block of Osceola Avenue.

  • The driver, an adult male, was detained by Sullivan’s Island Police around 10 a.m. on July 30 near Fort Moultrie and was taken for a medical check.
  • Authorities used sonar and divers from the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office to find the rig 14 feet underwater the next morning.
  • A heavy-duty wrecker was used to haul the truck back out.
  • The Coast Guard was called in to help with the scene.

What’s next: Sullivan’s Island Police say charges are pending against the truck driver. No injuries were reported in the incident.
