Semi truck driver killed in collision with Metrolink train

A semi truck and a Metrolink passenger train collided at a private railroad crossing in Moorpark, California, just outside Los Angeles. The crash happened at about 2:15 p.m. on June 25, near the intersection of Los Angeles Avenue and Montair Drive.

The details: The impact tore apart the truck, and the driver was killed instantly. The train, carrying 17 passengers and two crew members, stayed upright and continued down the track for some distance with the wreckage.

  • One person on the train suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
  • No other injuries from the train or surrounding area were reported.

The crossing where the crash happened is not open to the general public, but is used for private access. Emergency crews from Ventura County responded quickly, as did law enforcement.

Officials say the cause of the crash remains under investigation, reported KTLA.
