A series of semi truck crashes on Thursday evening forced the closure of both directions of Interstate 90 along Snoqualmie Pass in Washington due to snowy conditions.
The situation: The incidents began around 5:30 p.m. on March 13, causing a significant traffic snarl from North Bend to Ellensburg.
- The Washington State Patrol (WSP) and the Department of Transportation (WSDOT) had to close the heavily-trafficked highway to allow Class C tow trucks to clear the area.
- The westbound lanes at Easton and eastbound lanes near the summit remained blocked for several hours.
Weather warning: WSP Trooper Rick Johnson reminded drivers that snowy conditions can still happen and urged preparation for winter travel over the coming days.
According to KOMO News, the road reopened by 11:30 p.m. on Thursday evening. No injuries were reported during the incident. Thanks to timely responses, traffic resumed smoothly once the road was cleared.
