Semi-truck crash caught on camera, no serious injuries reported

Dash cam footage released by the Michigan State Police shows a multi-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck on December 12 in Royal Oak.

What happened: The crash took place at 12:05 a.m. on southbound I-75 near 11 Mile Road. The semi-truck attempted to pass slowing traffic, saw patrol cars blocking lanes, braked, and lost control.

  • The semi hit a patrol car, sending it over 100 yards.
  • No one was seriously injured, as two troopers and a tow truck operator were able to jump the median wall to safety.
  • The semi struck another unoccupied vehicle from a previous accident.

The repercussions: Following the incident, the semi driver was arrested for reckless driving, failing to adhere to Michigan’s move over law.

Thankfully, the crash resulted in no serious injuries, and all involved were unharmed. The focus now is on ensuring such incidents are less frequent.
