Semi rollover closes I-80 rest stop, cleanup underway

A semi truck rollover caused the closure of an eastbound I-80 rest stop near Ashland, Nebraska, on Monday morning, April 21st.

What happened: The accident occurred around 10 a.m. as the semi was exiting the interstate at mile marker 425, heading into the rest stop.

  • The trailer ruptured, spilling its load onto the grassy shoulder.
  • The cab ended up partially blocking the roadway.

The rest stop remains closed as crews continue the cleanup.

According to Nebraska 511: There is no current estimate for when the rest stop will reopen, reported Nebraska 511.
