Semi gets stuck in tight spot in English village

In a tricky spot on September 30th, a semi got wedged in a narrow lane in the Cornish village of Forder, England. The trailer was hauling 40 tonnes of seed.

What happened: The truck took a wrong turn and ended up wedged tight between a house and a wall.

  • Efforts to free the vehicle involved removing the cargo and using a crane to lift the eight-tonne trailer.
  • Villagers were temporarily left in the dark as the power had to be shut off during the lift.

The challenge: It was a delicate operation. Dougie Smith, who manned the crane, said, "It's so close to the house that when they lift it up they've got to be incredibly skilled to get it from bashing into the house," reported BBC News.

The stuck truck remained an obstacle until it was removed on October 2nd. This isn't the first time this has happened in Forder; a similar incident occurred in 2007.

Luckily, there were no reported injuries during this complicated recovery process.
