Semi’s police chase ends just inches from Georgia home

A semi truck ended up just inches from a Georgia home after a police chase on Tuesday morning, June 24.

What happened: Around 8:30 a.m., Cobb County police got calls about a semi driving erratically on Dallas Highway. When officers tried to stop the rig, the driver kept going and turned north onto Ernest Barrett Parkway.

  • The driver lost control while trying to turn left, sending the truck onto an embankment and through a fence.
  • The truck stopped just short of hitting a house, with only the tractor in the homeowner's backyard.

"I did hear a lot of traffic and a loud boom. I just thought it was your typical morning traffic on Barrett Parkway," said Jim Boyland, the homeowner who found the truck near his house after police showed up, according to 11Alive.

  • The truck driver was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
  • No other people were hurt.

Police said the driver will be charged with reckless driving. Other charges could be added as the case is investigated.
