Sedan hits semi truck on I-5, causes major lane closure

A semi truck ended up swerving into oncoming lanes after a sedan tried to change lanes and struck the truck on southbound I-5, just north of Northgate at 85th, in Seattle. The accident happened on Wednesday, May 28.

What happened: The sedan crashed into the semi's side, knocking off an axle. This caused the truck to lose control, break through the barriers, and enter northbound traffic.

The Washington State Patrol called it a "miracle" that no one was killed.
No vehicles were hit on the northbound side, thanks to quick reaction and probably a bit of luck.
Two adults and two children in the sedan had minor injuries.
No other injuries were reported.

All lanes were open and traffic was moving again by around noon, according to KIRO 7 News.
