Runaway front-end loader crashes in Massachusetts after brake failure

Police in Milford, Massachusetts released video showing a runaway front-end loader plowing through an intersection after its brakes failed on Friday, August 15, 2025.

What happened: Around 1:38 p.m., officers got multiple 911 calls about a crash on Cedar Street involving heavy equipment.

  • The nearly 60,000-pound loader lost its brakes coming down Fortune Boulevard.
  • It hit a car and took out several road signs before finally stopping against a guardrail and utility pole.

Miraculously, no one was killed or badly hurt. "It's a miracle no one was killed or seriously injured," said Chief Robert Tusino.
