Pickup drops load on highway, sparks crash involving semis

A pickup driver lost part of his load on the highway, setting off a chain reaction crash involving at least two semis and a car. The pileup was caught on traffic camera video and happened recently, though the exact location and date were not reported.

How it happened: The pickup, towing a utility trailer, dropped a large item in the left lane, then kept on driving without stopping. Traffic swerved to avoid the debris, but a car in front of a semi hit the item, spinning out and colliding with the big rig in the right lane. The truck swerved across the road, nearly hitting a second semi.

  • The pickup circled back to retrieve the item and started loading it up again.
  • A police officer arrived a short time later and appeared to help, but neither checked on the folks who were actually in the crash.

There was no information that anyone was seriously injured in the pileup.
