Pennsylvania trucking company pleads guilty to emissions tampering

Frock Brothers Trucking Inc., a company based in Oxford Township, Pennsylvania, has pleaded guilty to disabling emissions control devices on their diesel trucks.

The backstory: Between November and December 2018, the company worked with Leon Martin, an at-home mechanic, to remove or disable emissions monitors from their fleet of eight Kenworth trucks.

  • The emissions systems, required under the Clean Air Act, help reduce and monitor emissions from vehicles.
  • Both the company and Martin have admitted to violating the Clean Air Act and a charge of conspiracy.

The consequence: Prosecutors recommend a fine of $80,000 and two years of probation for Frock Brothers Trucking. Martin faces his own set of penalties, including felony charges.

According to Evening Sun News, the arraignment and plea hearing in this case is scheduled for October 2, 2024.

The violations reportedly resulted in the trucks emitting over 40 times more pollution than allowed.
