Officer Struck by Semi Truck Near George Washington Bridge

A Port Authority police officer was struck by a tractor-trailer early Monday morning near the George Washington Bridge.

What happened: At around 3:45 a.m. on September 16, the officer stopped the truck after noticing it had two flat rear tires.

When the officer returned to his patrol car, the truck rolled forward, striking the officer and his vehicle.
The officer was taken to a local hospital. His current condition is not clear.

Port Authority Police say the truck driver failed to engage the brakes, leading to the incident, reported News 12 New Jersey.
