Officer-involved shooting after stolen car hits semi truck

An altercation following a crash on I-220 near Clinton Boulevard in Jackson, Mississippi turned violent on Tuesday night, October 15th, leading to an officer-involved shooting. A man, driving a stolen vehicle, collided with a semi truck before exiting and firing shots at the truck driver.

What happened: After the crash, the suspect opened fire on the trucker, prompting a call to the police. The suspect fled and fired shots at the police during the ensuing foot chase.

  • Officers returned fire, striking the suspect in the lower body. He has been taken to the hospital and is expected to recover, according to WAPT News.
  • No serious injuries to the officers or the truck driver were reported.

The big picture: The suspect in this incident was also connected to a previous shoplifting case. Upon his recovery, he will face multiple felony charges.

Thankfully, the truck driver involved was unharmed in the incident, and the suspect remains under police supervision as the investigation continues.
