A new Indy 500-themed rest area officially opened on November 5, 2025, along eastbound I-70 near Terre Haute, Indiana, at mile marker 2 close to the Illinois border.
Why it matters: The Clear Creek Welcome Center brings a much-needed boost in truck parking, adding 128 spaces — a significant jump from the old facility's 78 spots.
- This upgrade is part of Indiana's push to add 1,200 new semi parking spaces across the state in the coming years.
- The new center replaces a rest area built back in 1992, offering modern amenities while keeping convenience in mind for truck drivers.
Extra details: The rest area celebrates Indiana's racing roots, with Indy 500 exhibits like a Borg-Warner Trophy replica, a real racecar, helmets, and a scoring pylon.
- There’s more for everyone — a dog park, walking path, playground for kids, and even an adult recreation area.
INDOT plans to open another new welcome center later this year at Black River on I-64. The agency says these improvements are about giving truckers and travelers better places to rest and recharge statewide.
