Murder suspect's leap nearly lands him under semi truck

A dramatic scene unfolded on Interstate 275 in Tampa, Florida on the night of October 16th when a murder suspect tried to evade capture by leaping off an overpass, nearly landing in front of a moving semi truck.

The incident: It started with a stabbing at an apartment that left a woman seriously injured. Officers found the suspect, Thomas Sapp, in his car the next morning.

  • Police attempted to stop Sapp on County Line Road. But he exited his car and jumped from the overpass onto the highway below, barely avoiding the path of a semi truck.
  • Sapp survived the fall, sustaining injuries, and was transported to a local hospital according to ABC Action News.

What's next: Sapp is set to face charges for attempted murder following the wild chase and attempted escape.

Thankfully, no truckers or other motorists were injured during the incident on the highway.
