Missouri hit-and-run incident on I-44 leads to arrest

A truck driver has been arrested following a deadly hit-and-run incident on I-44 in Missouri.

What happened: The accident occurred on Monday, November 25, at 1:36 p.m. A semi truck left the road, hitting a man changing a tire on the shoulder along with a pickup and an SUV near Sullivan, Missouri.

  • The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
  • The semi driver did not stop and left the incident location.

Investigation: Authorities launched a manhunt for the truck driver involved. On the next day, November 26, the Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed the arrest of the driver, Etem Missark, 44, from Florida.

  • Missark has been charged with felony leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death and misdemeanor careless driving.

Community response: The public assisted law enforcement in locating the driver, highlighting the community's active involvement in bringing justice.
