Mississippi trucker cleared after transporting car filled with drugs

Authorities in Mississippi have decided not to charge a truck driver after discovering a hefty stash of drugs inside a vehicle he was transporting. On Thursday evening, February 6, 2025, a traffic stop on I-20 led deputies to find something unexpected.

The big find: During the stop near Rankin County, officers grew suspicious of a car on the trucker's trailer, a silver BMW. A search revealed over 42 pounds of methamphetamine and 20 pounds of fentanyl hidden inside.

  • The trucker, unaware of the illicit haul, was let go without any charges after investigations.
  • Authorities are still probing the origin of the drugs, keeping the case open for now.

What's next: As the investigation continues, the Rankin County Sheriff's Office stands by its initial findings that neither the driver nor the trucking company had any involvement in the drug concealment.

This incident highlights the unexpected situations truck drivers can find themselves in, proving their integrity in often unpredictable scenarios.
