Minnesota trucker honored for four million safe miles

On January 21, 2025, the Minnesota Trucking Association (MTA) celebrated Roger Zima for his remarkable driving record by naming him the 2024 Minnesota Driver of the Year.

The big picture: Over his 39-year career, Zima has driven more than four million miles without incident, showing incredible skill and dedication, even during challenging Minnesota winter conditions.

  • Roger Zima drives for Foltz Trucking, a family-owned company based in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.
  • He was honored not just for his safe driving, but also for his involvement in highway safety and community activities.

Praise from peers: "Roger is a prime example of an employee that lives and breathes the core values and principles of Foltz Trucking," said Ken Foltz from Foltz Trucking.

Throughout 2024, outstanding drivers were nominated for monthly recognition before being considered for the annual award. A panel of judges, which included representatives from various safety organizations, selected Zima as the winner.

Foltz Trucking began in 1958 with a single truck and hauls a variety of bulk materials, including agricultural products, according to the Minnesota Trucking Association.

Thankfully, Zima's record of over four million safe miles stands as a testament to his commitment to road safety and professionalism.
