Lifelong trucking journey leads to fulfilling retirement together

In a heartfelt story shared online, a trucker recounted almost 50 years of driving alongside his wife. Their journey began with a new truck purchase and evolved through various trucking roles across the country.

The journey: Starting as a team, they adapted as life unfolded. Initially running together, he later drove solo while she raised their children.

  • They hauled everything from medical equipment to fresh poultry, adapting to changing demands.
  • After a health setback, he had to give up his CDL, leaving her to clock over a million miles on her own.

The family: Despite not having a college education themselves, they managed to raise successful children, now professionals in diverse fields.

"She was the Mennonite preacher's daughter," he fondly noted, reflecting on their unexpected life on the road together.

Looking forward: Now retired since August, they plan to enjoy their well-earned rest after a long and rewarding career.
